FAQS about Aetna Insurance for Substance and Alcohol Use

Does Aetna cover drug rehab?

Yes, Origins Recovery Center’s drug use disorder treatment programs are typically covered by Aetna, though the specific details differ between individual policies. The Affordable Care Act requires that insurance providers cover basic behavioral health services, such as addiction, mental health, and rehabilitation.

If you aren’t sure how to manage the insurance claim process, we can help. In addition to helping you better understand your plan, our representatives will ensure that your claim is submitted and processed correctly and promptly.

Regardless of the level of coverage you have, we can design a treatment program that corresponds to the provisions of your policy.

You can obtain the required pre-treatment authorization either through a representative of Origins Recovery Center or through a family member. Upon request, a member of the Origins Recovery Center team will be happy to verify your policy details and present you with additional funding resources, if necessary.

Does Aetna cover alcohol rehab?

Yes, Aetna covers alcohol-related substance use disorders, as well as co-occurring disorders and related health conditions. Your insurance card has a member services number you can call to find out your level of coverage or confirm coverage. If you prefer, an Origins Recovery Center representative can request information from Aetna on your behalf.

Does Aetna insurance cover substance use treatment?

Treatment for substance use disorders and other mental health services are covered by Aetna. Your Aetna insurance card contains a member service number you can call to verify your coverage. Our staff can also help determine your eligibility.

Does Aetna insurance cover addiction treatment?

Addiction treatment and behavioral health services related to substance use disorder are covered by Aetna insurance, but the details of your coverage will depend on your specific plan. Our insurance claim specialists can confirm your coverage and help you streamline your insurance claims process.

What if my Aetna insurance plan doesn’t cover addiction treatment?

As part of the Affordable Care Act, insurers must cover certain basic addiction treatment programs. However, levels of coverage will vary, depending upon the plan. In the event that your insurance plan does not cover certain types of treatment, the Origins Recovery Center staff will guide you through other potential funding resources that can help you with the cost of treatment.

How long does Aetna insurance cover rehab?

Rehabilitation services are tailored to each individual’s needs, but evidence suggests that intensive treatment works best. Long-term sobriety is more likely to occur after treatment lasting 90 days or more.

Rehab services are covered by Aetna for a particular duration, depending on the plan and services involved. The level of coverage varies among Aetna’s plans, as will the deductibles, premiums, and copays. Additionally, the best treatment options will differ from person to person. The services might include residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, counseling, and continuing care services.

You can check your treatment coverage by calling the member service number on the back of your Aetna insurance card. You can also speak with a representative at Origins Recovery Center for assistance. Once you’ve undergone the intake process, your care team will develop a treatment program that effectively fulfills your recovery needs while complying with the coverage provisions.

What is Aetna insurance?

The Aetna Group is a managed health insurance provider that offers a full range of medical, dental, pharmaceutical, mental health, and long-term care services.

Aetna’s insurance plans include:

  • Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO). In-network care coverage is provided under this plan. Although EPO plans cost more than HMO plans, they have a greater network of specialists.
  • Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). This type of plan has the lowest monthly premiums and deductibles. They do not offer out-of-network coverage and require referrals from primary care physicians.
  • High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). HDHPs have low monthly premiums but high deductibles. Most of them include a health savings account.
  • Point of Service (POS). In a POS, seeing a specialist requires a referral from a primary care physician. But this plan also covers out-of-network care.
  • Preferred Provider Organization (PPO). PPO plans charge higher premiums but offer more options and control. Patients can receive care outside of their health plans’ networks without a referral.
What should I do if Aetna insurance doesn’t cover the total cost of rehab?

Here at Origins Recovery Center, we are committed to helping you recover from your addiction and enjoy long-term sobriety. If your insurance plan does not provide the coverage you need to pursue the treatment you require, an Origins Recovery Center representative will assist you in identifying other funding sources.
