About Us

Philosophy

Origins Recovery Center on South Padre Island, Texas specializes in treating men of all ages with addiction and complex co-occurring disorders. Our skilled multidisciplinary team of medical, psychiatric, psychological, and mental health professionals provide sophisticated care that paves the way for lifelong recovery. Rooted in the belief that every man can recover, our program unites the best in advanced clinical therapies and contemporary addiction medicine. We are proud to be a member of Origins Behavioral HealthCare’s family of programs.

Gender-Separate Men’s Recovery

Origins’ gender-separate treatment philosophy is built on clinical data and professional experience that support the separation of men into their own milieu as a way to substantially improve outcomes. This environment creates an atmosphere of support where men can improve how they relate to each other, learn to model acceptable behaviors, and participate in the sense of community that is missing during active addiction.

Our dedicated professionals facilitate a lasting change in the men we treat: body, mind, and spirit. Everything we do at Origins — from medical care to individual therapy — is for this purpose. We recognize that mental, emotional, and physical health are wholly connected and need to be treated at the same time, in the same place, by the same team.

Origins’ Team Approach

A multidisciplinary approach to treatment allows our diverse team of clinical and medical professionals to treat addictive illnesses and dual diagnoses effectively. At Origins Recovery Center, coexisting problems such as anxiety and depression are treated at the same time as addiction issues to optimize our patient’s success. We place each patient at the center of a dynamic treatment team capable of meeting the medical, clinical, psychological, and spiritual needs of each patient.

Medical Services

Drug and alcohol use affects the body in so many detrimental ways that medical treatment is often necessary. Origins’ highly skilled multidisciplinary team includes medical and psychiatric practitioners as well as 24-hour nursing staff who attend to the unique needs of each patient. Our approach brings substance use and medical history into focus, and medical interventions are integrated into every person’s personalized treatment and discharge plans.

We offer state-of-the-art detoxification and a superior level of acute care, including the treatment of severe medical conditions.

Our psychiatrists may prescribe medication according to continuing assessments as each patient progresses through treatment. Our patients are taught the importance of self-care, including how to manage chronic pain, which is often a factor for patients recovering from opioid addiction. When superior medical care is combined with clinical and spiritual interventions, treatment improves — and so do lives.

Advanced Trauma Therapies

Trauma invariably contributes to ongoing substance use, and is extremely common among men seeking treatment. Beginning with a thorough assessment of each patient’s history, we provide a detailed plan for care that includes a range of modalities for recovery from the effects of trauma. Our therapists leverage interventions such as biofeedback and EMDR to kickstart the healing process and help reprocess harmful experiences.

Through group and individual sessions, we lead our patients through past trauma, abuse, and neglect, and provide healing modalities to prepare for discharge. By combining advanced interventions for trauma with rigorous clinical and medical services, we can treat the complex symptoms that influence ongoing alcohol or drug use.

Recovery for the Whole Family

Origins understand that addiction is a family disease that affects the whole family. That’s why family members are involved in the treatment process from the time of admission and well into their loved one’s recovery. Origins’ clinical team is passionate about helping individuals and their families recover from addiction because we know there is a solution.

Origins Four-Day Family Program provides support to family members of those suffering from addiction. In a therapeutic group setting, family members learn about the disease of addiction and discover healthy ways to support the family unit and heal themselves. Origins’ Family Program nurtures self-reflection and healing in a confidential and caring atmosphere.

Alumni and Continuing Care

Continuing care planning, also known as “discharge planning,” is a critical component of a treatment that helps patients and their families prepare to navigate the ups and downs of recovery. Our detailed and organized continuing care plans provide both stability for the person entering recovery and peace of mind for their family.

Each of our patients is assigned an Alumni Care Coordinator who addresses their long-term needs on an individual basis. These trained Coordinators guide through the continuing care process and will begin working with your loved one from the onset of treatment. Our Alumni Care Team offers lifetime phone and in-person support to graduates as they embark on their journey.
